Holy Shit, i've had one of the most exhausting weeks i've had in awhile. Some good news...played 3 live tournaments in the past 5 days, and cashed in all 3. More than that -- i took 3rd place in the first 2 (an Omaha hi/lo and a No Limit Holdem, both at the Bike as part of their Stars and Stripes series) and just tonite took 24th out of 500 in a Caesars WSOP Circuit Event here in Vegas. I reeeeeeeeeeeallly need to crash right now but wanted to update the blog first!
I know I'm supposed to be happy about these great results -- and i am, especially after the shitty couple months i had earlier this year online -- but in all 3 instances, i got fucked in the 11th hour in ways that cost me some serious ca$h! I was chipleader in the Omaha when we got to the final table, and once we got 3 handed i was only 2nd in chips but the blinds were so high a chip count deal was proposed. I totally woulda done it -- but my cut actually worked out to LESS than what i'd get just cashing in 2 normally, and since i felt i was far and away the best player at the table, turned it down -- only to bust out in 3rd like 4 hands later!!
That's right -- Dodgers opening day and yours truly was there for all the action. And in true blue fashion, we murdered those steroid-abusing Giants 5-0. The next day wasn't so kind though -- although we still won 3-2, the game was scoreless til the 7th inning, when both teams scored 2 runs. Dodger Stadium was fucking FREEZING that nite, so thank fuck we picked up a run in the bottom of the 9th to break the tie or i'm sure i woulda gotten hypothermia in extra innings. Yeah, yeah -- it was only in the 50's but this is LA, bitch. Homey don't do cold.
ALSO -- did a great interview on NPR the other day about card counting, in light of the new Kevin Spacey movie '21'. Plus, i got to provide a much-needed counterpoint to Beverly Griffin's NPR interview last week, where she perpetrated the same bullshit casino stereotypes of card counters somehow using some sort of "unfair advantage" against the house.
